No Respect
written by Christina E Lupin
Summary: Just your average day in Potions class, Marauder style.
Note: I may not own Harry Potter or anything in its universe, but I do happen to own a few original characters. I hope you do enjoy this one-shot. I might put it on ff.net.
--------No Respect------------------
"Ready Prongs?"
James Potter, aka Prongs, grinned. He turned around in his seat and "accidently" dropped something into a students' cauldron, which she didn't notice. Together, James Potter and Sirius Black ducked underneath their table, just in time for the cauldron to explode into the student's face. She shrieked but it came out extremely high-pitched.
Horace Slughorn, the Potions professor, let out a sigh. "Miss Marigold, please escort your partner to the hospital wing. You'll have to take a zero for today."
Raleigh Marigold nodded and walked behind Bridgett Pennington, who was crying in her new high-pitched voice.
"Detention Mr. Potter and Mr. Black. Tonight at nine," Slughorn continued, glaring at the grinning boys.
"Yes sir," they chorused.
Lily Evans scoffed and turned to her Potions partner, Alexandra Price. "Honestly, how Remus tolerates those two is beyond me, Alex. They're..."
"...stupid prats?" Alex finished. She smiled as she added the two ounces of pixie wings into their cauldron. "I am well informed of your opinion of James and Sirius. Everyone is."
"Though, my dear Alex, you do hold a torch for Mister Sirius Black," a voice from behind the two girls piped up.
Alex turned to glare at her other best friend, Ainsley Townshend. "You shut it, Lea. If I recall, you hold a torch for Remus Lupin."
Ainsley blushed but kept her mouth shut, stirring her potion silently. "At least Remus isn't a mischief-maker and self-proclaimed Casanova of the entire castle."
Lily chuckled, shaking her head as her friends bickered playfully. She wished her friends would just go ahead and ask the two boys out. There was a dance coming up in December, before everyone would be sent home, and Lily knew that Sirius would be getting loads of invitations. And so would James.
"Knut for your thoughts?" Ainsley asked, leaning forward.
Lily snapped out of her thoughts and stared into Ainsley's warm honey gold eyes, twinkling with laughter. The redhead narrowed her eyes. "My thoughts aren't worth that much, Townshend."
"You're right."
Alex openly laughed as Lily's jaw dropped, continuing to stare at Ainsley. The girl winked and started to bottle her potion just before Slughorn announced it was time to stop brewing. Lily huffed and she helped Alex bottle their potion and hand it to Slughorn. Professor Slughorn smiled at Lily.
"Remember, tomorrow is our next dinner party," he said to her before moving down to collect Ainsley's potion. "This looks excellent, Miss Townshend. You almost give Miss Evans a run for her money."
"Thanks, Professor," the golden-eyed Ravenclaw murmured.
As the girls started to leave the classroom, James Potter blocked their way, with his little gang right behind him. "Where are you girls going in such a hurry?"
"Unlike you and Black, Potter, we have a class to go to," Lily sneered, staring into his hazel eyes.
"And which one is that? The one about hair styling?" Sirius mocked, grinning roguishly.
James laughed and high-fived his best friend. Lily and Alex fumed while Ainsley stood quietly, her gold eyes looking James up and down.
"But James, I thought you failed that class," she said, her face expressionless. "Considering your mop you call hair."
The Marauders stopped laughing but the two Gryffindor girls picked up where they left off, leaning against the door frame. Ainsley never talked like that to the Marauders. Never.
Ainsley smiled and pushed past the boys, her shoes making hardly any sound as she walked away. Remus' eyes lingered longer than the other boys', smiling faintly.
"She had guts," he remarked.

I might do more scenes with these characters, since they are so much fun. Who knows, I could even write a story on them. Anyway, thanks so much for reading this. I had a lot of fun writing it.
